On the Market: 5811 Bellona Ave., Baltimore, MD 21212

A beautifully renovated victorian was just dramatically slashed in price the other day. It's a nice deal at $249,900. It would make a lovely family home, as it has lots of historic character and modern amenities like central A/C and two full baths. An added bonus is the large master bedroom that features a walk-in closet with laundry room attached. It's also located in a new elementary charter school district undergoing positive transformation, with a new school building in the works.  Have a look around the place.

Around Town: Dovecote Cafe

I hope you all had a fabulous Mother's Day. Mine was wonderful, as the hubs took me to brunch and Baby Z took an extra long nap for me, which is always a blessing :-) The place we went to for brunch, DOVECOTE CAFE, was delish and I want you all to checkout if you get a chance. I've been twice and both times, I really enjoyed my meal. This last time I had crabcakes with greens and mac and cheese, and felt like I'd experienced culinary heaven. The menu changes every month so you can't get too attached to a dish, which I imagine is a good and bad thing. Also, every second Sunday they have a "chef takeover", where a guest chef takes over the kitchen. The restaurant is not too far from MICA, so an added perk is awesome people watching as the establishment attracts lots of creatives.

It's called TOTSWAP, and I cannot rave enough about it. I go seasonally to pick up great clothes for Baby Z at low prices. Items are 50% on Sunday, and $1 on Monday.

How to Heal Lead Poisoning Naturally

Lead poisoning is something no family wants to have to deal with, but is unfortunately much too common. In addition to keeping a low lead environment, nutrition is a powerful tool that can be used to prevent and reverse lead poisoning. If you or someone you love has been exposed to unsafe levels of lead, you can treat the problem by regularly consuming the following foods:
  • garlic
  • Brazil nuts
  • chlorella
  • cilantro
  • aloe vera juice
You will want to consume the foods as close to the time of lead exposure as possible. You can learn more HERE.

Around Town: Flourish

Hello everyone. Today I wanted to tell you guys about a lovely new shop that just opened called FLOURISH.  I stopped in for the first time not too long ago, and just can't get enough it! It sells handmade items by local Baltimoreans. They have wonderful hand poured candles, a wide assortment of teas, beautiful greeting cards, jewelry, books, soaps, art, clothing, and more. The owner is a pleasure to talk to and very knowledgeable about all of her merchandise. It's definitely worth a stop in, if you get the chance.  Take a look around.

Around Town: Jewish Museum of Maryland

Hi everyone, I hope you are staying warm. Before we were hit with all this snow I had a chance to visit the JEWISH MUSEUM OF MARYLAND. It was a wonderful experience filled with rich learning. You can learn lots of interesting facts about Baltimore's Jewish immigrants and subsequent community that you might not already know. I encourage everyone to go and visit.

I wanted to share some pictures with you of the B'NAI ISRAEL SYNAGOGUE. It's a part of the museum's tour and absolutely beautiful to look at.

Around Town: The Peabody Library (FREE)

When caught up in life's day-to-day obligations, it can be easy to overlook wonderful amenities right under your nose. I am unfortunately guilty of this, and have been making an effort to consciously explore Baltimore and the myriad of sights it has to offer. During my quest I came across Johns Hopkins University's PEABODY LIBRARY.

The library was created in 1878, via funding from Baltimore philanthropist George Peabody. Peabody wanted to provide the citizens of Baltimore with access to a world-class cathedral of books. The Neo-Grec interior was designed by architect Edmond G. Lind, and is absolutely astonishing! I assure you your jaw will drop if you ever see it in person.

Here are a few photos I snapped while on my visit. I hope you enjoy!

Won't You Be My Neighbor: 512 Hollen Rd., Baltimore, MD 21212

A newly renovated bungalow is now on the market in Lake Walker for $379,900. The 4 bedroom 3.5 bathroom house has been fully gutted, and reconfigured to maximize living space. It has a two car garage, large deck, family room, and finished basement. Sounds nice, right? So without further ado, here's a sneak peek at the home.

The family is open concept and leads to a very spacious deck and nice yard.

The kitchen is the true highlight of the home. It has a good amount of counter space, beautiful light fixtures, and ample space for counter seating.

There are two nice full baths on the upper level, and one full bath in the basement.

The master bedroom is well appointed with its own bathroom, a decent sized closet, and easy access to an adjoining bedroom that would make a nice nursery.

And here's that kitchen again. I just had to include a second picture, because it's so beautiful. You can see more pictures and learn more about the listing HERE.
